Matrix techniques for modeling stress waves in multilayered media
Hora P.
pages 95 - +8p, full text

This paper describes the development of a general purpose model for wave propagation in Cartesian system. VVhen isotropic materials are used, the model can account for elastic and visco-elastic isotropic materials, single or multi-layered structures, and free or leaky systems. Based on the geometry and material properties of the system, the model determines what resonances can exist in order to satisfy the boundary conditions and the bvlk wave propagation characteristics in each of the layers. These resonances control how ultrasonic waves will be guided in the system and what properties each of these waves will have.
