Computational stress simulation of rubber twist-test via fem

The paper deals with evaluation and analyzing of stresses in rubber cylindrical specimen which was twisted up to large deformation. Ogden hyperelastic nonlinear model was used for rubber material modelling. Problem was solved using FEM (ANSYS, MARC). A comparison with small deformation results showed that some other stress tensor components can be substantial. Resultant force response was compared with the experimental one. The results show the impossibility of stress evaluation via simple analytical equations of linear elasticity. Therefore the twist-test is not suitable material test for rubberlike materials.
