The influence of surface layer nitridation of steel sample with rectangular cross-section on its behavior in the elastic and plastic region at bending has been investigated. Number of experiments has been executed where the bended samples were exposed to the loading with both static and dynamic character. Approximate values of modulus of elasticity, tangent modulus for bilinear elastoplastic models and yield stress have been determined by the combination of measurement results and finite element method calculations. COSMOS/M program has been used for the calculations.
