Biomechanics and computational mechanics – main challenges
Rosenberg J.
pages 20 - +7p, full text

In this paper the author tries do define the position of the Biomechanics within the Biomedical Engineering and to find the relation to the Computational Mechanics. As the special application of this the Biomechanics has some particular needs. They are at first the necessity to take into account the complex microstructure. This phenomenon is much more important than in the majority of technical applications and, therefore, it becomes the main challenge for the mechanics. The reasons are demonstrated on the typical biomechanical problems dealt with not only at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen but also at other institutions in the Czech Republic and abroad.
