In the paper, the problems of crack instability prediction are discv.ssed in connection with the conventional fracture mechanics theories. The own thermodynamical criterion is mentioned. As this criterion needs energy dissipation rate calculations, the proper constitutive relations for dilatational plasticity are seeking for. Void-models are described, their advantages for mentioned purpose are noted.
